FAQs

How much does an event cost? Our public events are £48. That gets you 5 meals to take home for the week ahead, snacks to keep you going whilst you're cooking up a storm and homemade soft drinks to keep your chin wagging (a little something I picked up whilst cooking at a retreat in Portugal).

Can I book for just myself or do I need to come with a group? You can absolutely come alone, we encourage it, and you'll be put into small teams anyway so you're never stood alone! Come alone and meet your new people or bring your friends to enjoy your new Sunday ritual.

Is there a minimum/maximum group size per session? No minimum, come alone, with your best mate, or your whole squad. Standard public events hold up to 14 people total, so first come, first served on group spots. Bringing more than 10? Drop us a line at events@thebatchsocial.com and we'll sort a private group event for you.

Is all the food plant based? Yes, always! We keep meals high in protein and fibre so you actually stay full through the week, no bland "plant food" here. Our menus change all the time with our strong favourites in circulation. And no, you don't have to be plant based to join us. from meat eaters to those that are plant curious, everyone is welcome!

Can you accommodate allergies or intolerances? We cook in small groups in a shared kitchen, so we can't guarantee any dish is completely free from allergens, if you have a serious or severe allergy, we're sorry we're not the right fit. For the intolerant ones amongst us, I'm soy intolerant myself, so this is something I care about getting right, and once we're a bit further along, I'd love to run themed sessions built around common intolerances, soy included. We're not there yet but watch this space.

Food & dietary

What if I don't like a specific ingredient? Because the menu's planned and shopped for the whole group in advance, we're not able to swap out individual ingredients, sorry! Everyone shares portions of every dish, so there's plenty of variety across the session. Where something's an optional topping, like coriander, you're welcome to just leave it off your own portion, easy enough since you're the one plating it up.

How much food do I take home? You will take home 5 complete meals that you can either enjoy for lunch or dinner depending on your weeks schedule. We're not just talking mains, everything that goes with it too. Toppings? Sauces? Dressings? All yours, all packaged up and ready to go.

On the day

What should I bring? Bring any airtight container, roughly 1 litre and a decent bag to carry 5 meals home in. If you've got glass tupperware, even better, it's better for the planet and doesn't hold onto smells or stains the way plastic can. (Heads up, 5 glass tupperwares full of food will be heavier than plastic so keep that in mind when bringing a bag and thinking about how you're getting home.) Forgot yours, or don't own one? You can add containers at checkout or on the day, just know these are recyclable, not reusable, and not oven, freezer, or microwave safe. If you want to purchase the tupperware I use, click this link. (This is an affiliate link, if you buy through it, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.)

Where is the event? We're based in East London. Venue details are confirmed closer to each date, keep an eye on upcoming events for the full address and details.

Do I need any cooking experience? No, you don't need to be an experienced cook, we've done the hard work for you. I've spent time cooking in an award-winning kitchen and on a retreat abroad, so you're in safe hands, but this isn't a class run by a professional chef either. Think of it as cooking alongside someone who knows their way around a kitchen, guiding you through it step by step.

Cancellations & changes

Can I get a refund if I can't make it? Life happens, if you can't make it, email us at events@thebatchsocial.com as soon as you can. Cancel more than 7 days before the event and we'll give you a full refund. After that, we can't guarantee one since we've already shopped and planned for your spot, but we'll always try to find you a place at a future session instead.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else? Yes, sort the swap between yourselves, then email us at events@thebatchsocial.com at least 72 hours before the event with the new person's name and email. They'll need to sign our waiver before their spot's confirmed. Any money changing hands is between you two, that's not something we get involved in.

What happens if the event is cancelled? We hope this never has to happen, but if we ever need to cancel, you'll get an email straight away with your options: a full refund, or a spot at another date if you'd rather switch. We process refunds directly, so please allow a few days, exactly how long it takes to land back in your account depends on your payment method.
